The OpenRun Pro 2 is the latest generation of Shokz’s premium bone conduction sport headphones, succeeding the OpenRun Pro and is available at Mobihub Electronics Kenya. It builds on the strengths of its predecessor while introducing refined design enhancements and improved performance features. Below is a long and detailed description of its core features and specifications:

1. Bone Conduction Technology – 9th Generation

The OpenRun Pro 2 uses Shokz’s 9th-generation bone conduction technology, which transmits sound through the cheekbones rather than the eardrums. This keeps the ears open, allowing users to stay aware of ambient noise such as traffic, conversations, or alerts while still enjoying music or taking calls. This makes the OpenRun Pro 2 particularly suited for runners, cyclists, hikers, and other outdoor athletes where situational awareness is critical.

The technology in this generation has been refined to provide better vibration clarity, reduced sound leakage, and improved fidelity in the low and mid-frequency ranges.

2. Shokz TurboPitch™ Bass Enhancers

A major highlight of the OpenRun Pro 2 is the incorporation of TurboPitch™ technology, which adds bass enhancers near the transducers. This results in a more dynamic and full-bodied sound signature, improving the richness and depth of audio, particularly for genres like hip-hop, EDM, and pop, which benefit from deeper bass performance—an area where bone conduction headphones traditionally underperform.

3. Lightweight Titanium Frame with Flexible Fit

Weighing approximately 29 grams, the OpenRun Pro 2 is extremely lightweight. Its frame is constructed from durable titanium, ensuring flexibility and resilience without compromising on comfort. The wraparound design sits securely behind the neck and over the ears. This provides a secure and stable fit, even during vigorous physical activity such as running, gym workouts, or high-intensity interval training.

Shokz also refined the curvature and angle of the transducers to better match the natural contour of the user’s head, improving both comfort and sound quality.

4. Premium Microphone System with Noise Cancellation

The OpenRun Pro 2 features dual noise-canceling microphones that provide crystal-clear call quality by filtering out ambient noise. This is ideal for taking calls outdoors or in noisy environments, as your voice remains clear to the listener even in windy conditions or urban settings.

5. IP55 Water and Dust Resistance

The headphones are rated IP55, which means they are resistant to dust ingress and can withstand water jets from any direction. This rating ensures that the OpenRun Pro 2 is suitable for sweaty workouts, light rain, and other moderate exposure to the elements, though it is not fully waterproof and not intended for swimming.

6. Bluetooth 5.3 Connectivity

The OpenRun Pro 2 comes with Bluetooth 5.3, offering faster pairing, improved stability, lower latency, and better energy efficiency compared to earlier Bluetooth versions. The headset can connect with multiple devices and retains strong connection stability within a range of up to 10 meters (33 feet).

Bluetooth multipoint is expected in this version, allowing users to pair with two devices simultaneously (e.g., phone and laptop), though this might depend on firmware updates.

7. Quick Charge and Extended Battery Life

Battery life is another standout feature. The OpenRun Pro 2 offers up to 10 hours of continuous playback or talk time, making it suitable for extended runs, commutes, or workdays. In addition, the headphones support quick charging via a proprietary magnetic charging cable—a 5-minute charge yields up to 1.5 hours of use, which is ideal for those on the go.

The full charge time is approximately 1 hour, and the battery uses efficient lithium polymer technology.

8. Customizable Controls and Voice Assistant Support

The OpenRun Pro 2 features physical buttons for power, volume, playback, and call control. These buttons are tactile and positioned intuitively for easy operation while running or wearing gloves. They also support interaction with smartphone voice assistants (like Siri or Google Assistant), enabling hands-free control.

Additional customization (such as button behavior or EQ presets) may be available through the Shokz app, depending on firmware compatibility.

9. Enhanced Audio Quality and Reduced Sound Leakage

Shokz has improved the audio fidelity, especially in the vocal and bass ranges, by optimizing the acoustic chamber and bone conduction pads. The OpenRun Pro 2 significantly reduces sound leakage, a common concern with bone conduction headphones, so others nearby are less likely to hear what you’re listening to—even at moderate to high volumes.

10. Ergonomics and Long-Term Comfort

Designed with ergonomics in mind, the OpenRun Pro 2 uses soft silicone pads on the contact points to minimize pressure and fatigue during prolonged use. The transducers sit just in front of the ears, and the band is designed to exert minimal force, reducing discomfort even during several hours of wear.

11. Compatibility and App Integration

The OpenRun Pro 2 pairs with most Bluetooth-enabled devices, including iOS and Android smartphones, tablets, laptops, and smartwatches. The Shokz App (available on both iOS and Android) provides firmware updates, sound mode adjustments (e.g., vocal or standard EQ), and pairing instructions.
