Slim, foldable, and highly portable, the Smooth XS combines ease of use with intelligent features that bring stability and flair to mobile content creation.

1. Sleek and Foldable Design

Engineered with portability in mind, the Smooth XS features a slide-and-fold form factor that allows it to collapse into a pocket-sized unit. This makes it one of the most travel-friendly smartphone gimbals in its class. It’s ideal for on-the-go creators who need a compact solution that’s always ready to shoot.

Despite its small size, the build quality remains solid, with a mix of lightweight plastic and metal parts that ensure it feels both sturdy and comfortable in the hand.

2. Built-In Extendable Selfie Stick

One of the Smooth XS’s standout features is its integrated telescoping selfie stick, which extends to give users additional reach for wide-angle shots, group selfies, or overhead filming. This built-in rod transforms the gimbal into a versatile vlogging tool and makes it especially well-suited for vertical content creators on platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.

3. 2-Axis Stabilization for Smooth Video

Unlike higher-end gimbals that offer 3-axis stabilization, the Smooth XS features 2-axis stabilization (pan and roll), which is sufficient for most casual video scenarios. It effectively smooths out basic hand movements and delivers noticeably steadier footage compared to shooting handheld.

This is particularly useful for walking shots, casual vlogging, or quick travel clips.

4. Smart Gesture Control

The Smooth XS includes gesture control, enabling users to start recording or take photos using simple hand signs. This feature makes it easy to operate the gimbal without touching your phone or the handle—perfect for solo creators, remote shooting, and hands-free selfies.

5. Zhiyun ZY Cami App Integration

The Smooth XS works seamlessly with the ZY Cami app, which unlocks powerful software features:

Smart Tracking: Keep yourself or your subject centered in frame automatically
Beauty Mode: Real-time skin enhancement filters for vlogs and selfies
Smart Templates: Auto-edited clips with transitions and music
Editing Tools: Trim, filter, add music, and apply effects within the app
Remote Control Features: Use the gimbal to control your phone’s camera functions wirelessly

The app greatly expands the creative possibilities of the Smooth XS, making it a full content production suite in your pocket.

6. One-Handed Operation with Intuitive Controls

The gimbal’s handle features a minimalist button layout for ease of use. With one hand, you can:

Switch between landscape and portrait modes
Start/stop recording
Switch between front and rear cameras
Adjust pan movements

This makes operation fast, fluid, and intuitive—even for beginners.

7. Long Battery Life

Despite its slim profile, the Smooth XS delivers up to 4–5 hours of continuous use, more than enough for a typical day of vlogging, live streaming, or event capturing. The gimbal charges via USB-C, making it compatible with most modern chargers and power banks.

8. Vibrant Color Options and Youthful Aesthetic

Unlike most gimbals that stick to standard black or grey, the Smooth XS is available in several fashionable colors, often including white, pink, and blue. Its modern design appeals to younger users, lifestyle vloggers, and anyone who values both function and style.

9. Compact, Yet Capable – Ideal For:

Beginner content creators and vloggers
Social media influencers focused on short-form vertical video
Travelers who want stable footage without extra gear
Students or casual users filming events or tutorials
Anyone seeking an upgrade from handheld smartphone footage

Conclusion: Simplicity Meets Creativity

The ZHIYUN Smooth XS is a perfect entry-level gimbal for smartphone users who want better video without a steep learning curve or bulky equipment. With 2-axis stabilization, a built-in selfie stick, gesture control, and app-based enhancements, it empowers users to create dynamic, shareable content with ease.

Lightweight, affordable, and stylish—the Smooth XS helps you shoot smarter, not harder.
