Design and Build Quality

The Vivo V40 5G showcases a sleek and premium design with a polished, curved-edge body that ensures a comfortable grip and sophisticated appearance. The rear panel is made of a frosted or matte finish glass (depending on the color variant), giving it a refined look while reducing fingerprint smudges. The camera module is distinctly rectangular with slightly rounded edges and a raised platform that houses dual lenses and an LED flash. Its frame is made from high-quality polycarbonate or lightweight aluminum, balancing durability and weight.

The device is designed to be slim and lightweight, making it suitable for prolonged one-handed use. It also includes IP68 certification, offering resistance to dust and water, a feature typically seen in higher-end models.

Display

The Vivo V40 5G comes equipped with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display that supports a Full HD+ resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The panel boasts a high refresh rate of 120Hz, which ensures ultra-smooth scrolling, responsive gaming, and fluid animations. HDR10+ support is included, enhancing contrast and color reproduction when viewing compatible content.

The display features curved edges on both sides, contributing to an immersive viewing experience with reduced bezels and a near edge-to-edge look. With a peak brightness of over 1300 nits, the screen remains legible even under direct sunlight. Color accuracy and contrast ratios are excellent, making it ideal for media consumption, gaming, and productivity.

Performance

Under the hood, the Vivo V40 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, which offers a balanced mix of efficiency and performance. Built on a 4nm process, the chipset includes an octa-core CPU and an Adreno GPU, delivering smooth multitasking, efficient battery usage, and reliable gaming performance on medium to high settings.

The device is available in multiple memory configurations, typically 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X/LPDDR5 RAM, coupled with 256GB of UFS 2.2 or 3.1 internal storage. Virtual RAM expansion is supported, allowing the system to use part of the storage as additional memory when needed.

Camera System

The Vivo V40 5G features a dual-camera setup on the rear:

Primary Camera: A 50 MP main sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), providing high-resolution images with good dynamic range and low-light performance. It supports 4K video recording and includes features like night mode, portrait mode, and pro mode.
Ultra-Wide Camera: A 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens that captures wide landscapes and group shots without significant distortion. The ultra-wide sensor also supports autofocus, making it suitable for macro photography.

The front camera is housed in a center punch-hole and is also a 50 MP sensor. It offers excellent detail for selfies and video calls, along with AI beautification, bokeh effects, and 4K video recording capabilities.

The camera software includes a suite of Vivo’s AI enhancements, including scene recognition, Super Night Mode, and Real-Time Filters.

Battery and Charging

The Vivo V40 5G is equipped with a 5500mAh battery, which provides solid day-long usage under moderate to heavy workloads. With power-efficient hardware and software optimization, the device can handle video streaming, browsing, gaming, and multitasking with minimal battery drain.

It supports 80W FlashCharge fast charging, which can take the battery from zero to around 50 percent in under 20 minutes and a full charge in approximately 40-45 minutes, depending on usage conditions. However, wireless charging is not available, aligning with the device’s upper mid-range positioning.

Software

The smartphone runs on Funtouch OS 14, based on Android 14. The UI is clean, customizable, and optimized for performance. Vivo has added useful features like multi-window support, smart split-screen, and extended RAM capabilities. Funtouch OS also integrates privacy enhancements and improved permission management.
