Description
The Logitech K400 Plus Wireless Touch Keyboard is a compact, all-in-one input solution designed primarily for casual control of home entertainment systems, smart TVs, and media PCs and is available at Mobihub Electronics Kenya. Below is a comprehensive, professional-grade overview of its features and specifications:
1. Integrated Wireless Touchpad
One of the standout features of the Logitech K400 Plus is its large 3.5-inch multi-touch touchpad, located on the right-hand side of the keyboard. This eliminates the need for a separate mouse, enabling users to navigate and control their devices intuitively. The touchpad supports common Windows gestures such as two-finger scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, and swipe gestures, allowing fluid interaction with a range of applications.
2. Wireless Connectivity
The K400 Plus connects via a 2.4 GHz wireless USB receiver (Logitech Unifying Receiver), offering a reliable and responsive connection with a range of up to 10 meters (33 feet). This makes it ideal for living room use, where users may control media from a distance. The Unifying Receiver can also connect multiple Logitech devices simultaneously, reducing USB port usage.
3. Long Battery Life
Designed for low power consumption, the K400 Plus is powered by two AA batteries, which can last up to 18 months under normal usage conditions. A physical on/off switch is included to conserve power when not in use. The keyboard also features a battery life indicator, alerting users when replacement is necessary.
4. Media-Friendly Layout
The keyboard layout is optimized for media control, featuring dedicated hotkeys for volume up/down, mute, play/pause, home, and more. These keys enable quick, one-touch access to commonly used functions, enhancing the experience of streaming, browsing, or controlling smart devices from the couch.
5. Compact and Lightweight Design
The K400 Plus boasts a low-profile, compact design (approximately 14 inches wide), making it easy to hold in hand or rest on the lap. Despite its size, the keyboard maintains full-sized key spacing, improving typing comfort while minimizing footprint. It weighs roughly 390 grams (13.7 oz), striking a balance between portability and stability.
6. Quiet, Low-Profile Keys
Equipped with Logitech’s signature scissor-switch keys, the K400 Plus offers a soft, quiet typing experience. The low-profile keycaps reduce key travel distance and noise, making the keyboard suitable for shared living spaces without causing disturbance.
7. Plug-and-Play Setup
Setup is straightforward—simply plug the Logitech Unifying Receiver into a USB port, and the device is ready to use. No additional drivers or software are required for basic functionality on supported platforms. For more customization (such as remapping keys), users can optionally install Logitech Options software.
8. Broad Compatibility
The K400 Plus supports a wide range of operating systems, including:
-
Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11
-
Chrome OS
-
Android TV
-
Some Linux distributions
Although it can be used with macOS, certain functions (especially gesture controls and shortcut keys) may be limited or behave differently.
9. Spill-Resistant Build
The keyboard is designed with a spill-resistant layout, offering protection against minor liquid spills. This enhances its durability and makes it more resilient for casual, home-based use.
10. Customization and Control
When used with Logitech Options software, users can customize touchpad gestures, reassign function keys, and configure shortcut commands to tailor the device to their specific preferences. This level of flexibility enhances productivity and user experience.
11. Durable Build Quality
Logitech is known for its high build standards, and the K400 Plus reflects this with its solid plastic construction and wear-resistant key printing. It is designed for longevity, even with regular use.
12. Integrated Left and Right Click Buttons
Below the touchpad, there are two physical click buttons (left and right), emulating standard mouse functions. Their placement allows for thumb-based clicking when holding the keyboard like a game controller, which is convenient for handheld use.
13. Compact Numeric Functionality
Although the K400 Plus does not have a dedicated numeric keypad, the top row includes function (Fn) shortcuts that allow numeric and media-related operations through key combinations, maximizing utility without increasing size.
Conclusion
The Logitech K400 Plus is a thoughtfully designed wireless keyboard that combines reliable performance, user-friendly features, and long battery life in a compact form. It is particularly suited for home entertainment environments where convenience, quiet operation, and integrated navigation are essential.
